The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is hiring an Investigator for Municipal and Regional Preparedness

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is the leading, directing, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.

Do you want to make a difference and work with us to develop civil defense? Then you might be our next colleague!

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

In the role of investigator focusing on municipal and regional preparedness, you will have the opportunity to contribute to strengthening Sweden's preparedness through strategic work and close collaboration with actors at various levels.

You will play a crucial role in developing methods, creating coordination, and driving the work forward.

Your tasks include:

  • supporting municipalities, regions, and county administrative boards at a strategic level in their efforts to strengthen preparedness
  • developing methods and working practices to involve municipalities in national preparedness planning
  • producing and updating support materials, guidelines, and processes
  • planning and conducting conferences and meetings

Other tasks within the unit's area of responsibility may also occur. The role involves many points of contact both within the agency and with actors in the preparedness system.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a relevant academic degree or other relevant experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • experience working with civil defense or crisis preparedness at the municipal, regional, or county administrative level
  • experience independently leading larger development projects
  • knowledge of total defense, civil defense, and peacetime crisis preparedness
  • good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

  • training in peacetime crisis preparedness or civil defense
  • experience representing the employer in external contexts
  • experience in preparedness planning at the municipal, regional, or county administrative level

In all our work, both internally and externally, we act based on the state value framework. As all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approaches apply in everyday life, crises, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.

We are looking for someone who is confident in acting based on their professional judgment and takes responsibility for their decisions. You see the big picture and have the ability to adapt your actions according to needs and changes. At the same time, you have the ability to work methodically and organized, planning, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines to achieve the best results.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your place of employment will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel may occur in the position.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with background checks will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are designated for military service.

About Us

In the planning section, we are 19 employees, and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm. The section's task includes coordinating a process for national preparedness planning, which also involves supporting actors with methods and processes.

We have activity-based offices where you can choose your workplace according to your needs. You also have the opportunity to work remotely to some extent.

We also offer you the opportunity to take a wellness hour, and you will receive a wellness allowance. For you as a government employee, there are also favorable vacation terms.

All of us working at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are expected to contribute to increased equality and equal treatment for a work environment and a society free from discrimination.
